Advanced Digital Graphics: Photo Manipulation, UI, and Professional Portfolio (NCII Part 2)

This course builds upon design fundamentals by focusing on advanced Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator techniques for complex photo manipulation, retouching, and compositing. Students will learn to design data-driven visuals (infographics), explore the basics of digital packaging and UI/UX, and, most critically, consolidate all their skills into a professional Digital Portfolio and Capstone Project required for career readiness.

What Will You Learn?

  • Execute advanced Photo Manipulation and Compositing techniques using complex selections, masks, and non-destructive editing in Photoshop.
  • Design Data-Driven Infographics that effectively translate complex information into compelling visuals.
  • Create graphics optimized for various digital platforms, including Social Media Specs and simple Animated Graphics (GIFs).
  • Understand the basic principles of Packaging Design and apply them to create a mock product visualization.
  • Design basic Website Landing Pages (UI) and understand Visual Hierarchy in user interfaces.
  • Develop, layout, and finalize a professional Digital Portfolio and Capstone Design Project suitable for academic or entry-level job applications.

Module 1: Advanced Photoshop and Data Visualization
This module elevates software proficiency, focusing on deep manipulation of raster images in Photoshop and then shifting gears to the structured design of complex, data-driven visuals (infographics).

Module 2: Applied Design and Digital Output
This module applies VGD skills to contemporary platforms, covering the constraints and specifications for web graphics, social media, and physical product design (packaging).

Module 3: Portfolio Development
This module is dedicated to the critical step of curating and presenting all student work professionally. It teaches students how to select their best pieces and structure a compelling portfolio.

Module 4: Capstone Project and Professional Critique
The final module focuses on executing a comprehensive Capstone Project, integrating skills from the entire course. The project is refined through iteration and peer feedback, culminating in a final professional presentation.
